Well, that's what the advertisement next to it says. Flashy, fully of monitors exploding in front of delighted kids. You know, standard 80s console advertisements. In that sense, it'd be easy to miss the note someone seems to have placed next to the console in question. After all, THAT'S only on plain notebook paper, and it's really long. Who has time to read that when you've got video games to play?
And yet, if you bother to read it, you would read the following:
To those who read this:
I do not know how or why, but I have found myself drawn into the game that I played. Curiously, the heroes who are meant to be in the game have vanished, leaving only me to help solve the problems of these worlds. I am no longer certain that these are merely games anymore; rather, I believe I have stumbled upon a portal into other worlds, ones which have only previously been known to us as fictional. Something -- or someone -- has been dooming these worlds by changing the circumstances. Those who would play the protagonists have disappeared, dooming these worlds to whatever fate awaits failure.
When I first arrived in the game, I found myself in possession of a small device. This device seems to have recorded the information that should have been known by the hero I replace at the point of start. It also provides me with other strange capacities; I can store things in it, far more than I could hold myself. And I can leave at any time with it. I could, if I so desired, walk away from this like with any game. It would be safer.
I cannot stand idly by, however. I grew up with these games. I cannot let these worlds perish. I will be reentering the game I chose. If I should die in the process, well, so it goes. Hopefully, someone else will be able to take up my mantle. You may also walk away now, if you so choose. I would not blame you.
To those who choose to play, however... I bid you luck.
Man, tl;dr. You just wanna play some damn games, right?
((OOC: As it says on the cover. If you want me to exclusively DM the game, your best option is to choose from the list here, since I know these titles best. (Note that the PS and PS2 games without stars are still crapshoots, since I don't have access to them and never beat them.) If you want something new, you're probably mostly restricted to anything easily emulatable. This would be pretty much any pre-N64 and PS level retro title. And if you want to run the deal YOURSELF using a game you know, hey, why would I complain?
Note also that if you want, I can RP with you as a character as well. In which case, I'd suggest using the Call Me Out list one post down. They can either enter with you or already be inside. Either way works.
